Alright.  OK.  We’ve been here before.  Right?  Back at the beginning of this story.  

But it was summer then.  

And there was no gigantic painted turtle (I would have remembered that).  

I always thought turtles burrowed into the mud for the winter...

but then, nothing else is normal in this story, why should the turtle be the exception?
