Elf (that's Eleven auf Deutsch, not Santa's little helper.)

We got up extra early so we can see the brilliant reds of dawn. 

Red has led us to the God's Eye heron (herodio et oculus Dei ferus).
 I'm not sure what kind of god he's the eye of, but it looks like it must be a pretty ferocious one.
